So I am sure most of you have at least watched a little bit of the Olympics. Have you noticed any of the music? If you have noticed the music has it had a Chinese flair to it?
Chances are that most of the music being played is not traditional Chinese music, but instead is European/American music with a Chinese influance.
I challange you to go for the gold and find some online audio samples of traditional Chinese music or traditional Chinese musical instruments and post them in a reply. Then we can compare and see if what they are playing during the Olympics is actual traditional Chinese music. When you post give your opinion too.

« Too many video games…
That’s what my mother always told me. I didn’t listen to her and now look at me!
I was looking for music video games and found this website: http://www.classicsforkids.com/
It is from a Radio station based out of Cincinnati. There are games there, but there is a ton of other stuff too. Check it out.
I will give more prizes to kids who know what games these pics are from.
Go for the Gold! »« A word of warning
So I had no plans to post anything today, but when I woke up and started flipping through the channels I was intrigued by the fact that there was music on MTV. So I watched a little. Apparently MTV made a musical called American Mall. The ridiculousness that I saw frightened me to the point that I had to post a warning:
Don’t watch this, it will poison your mind and make your musical IQ drop quickly. This movie is every cliche (look it up if you don’t know the word) rolled up into one awful movie. The acting is foolish and the music is… I don’t know. It hurts me to listen to it, but I did so you won’t have to.
Just say no to American Mall.

Ok, actually I don’t. But, if you want to post a comment on here about fun things you did this summer, then I would know.
I had a good summer. I got to spend a lot of time with the future Mrs. Parcell. Plus I had a summer job working in a winery in Indianapolis. It was a lot of fun working there; I learned a lot of new stuff and I met some very nice people.
Creating Music »« Welcome Back
Mr. Parcell has a blog??? I know it is weird, huh? But I figured that is what all of the cool kids were doing so I should too so I can fit in. Just kidding.
I am actually writing a blog to offer another way for parents and students to keep in touch with me. As society changes so do our methods of communication.
My hope is that I will be able to update this regularly with plenty of information about band and add in links to music stuff that you might find interesting.
Maybe someday we might even be able to use this blog for assignments or some form of class work.
Alright, I guess that is enough for my first blog. Man, I am soooo cool!
I know what you did last summer… »
